Like developing a relationship with an acquaintance into the status of a friend, so does creating a friendship with any spirit takes time and cultivation.
Yes, there was a magical feeling when I meditated with the spirit of plants. I was surprised at how abstract the plant species of Rue felt. Unlike when I sense an animal, the plant did not have any concern for other beings within its environment. More of a casual recognition of what was around it. There was no need to be prey or predator. The plant just… was. Yellow Dog goes further:
The animal kingdom does interact with the plant with a seamless dance. The caterpillar knows the rhythm of a tree, just as the tree knows the rhythm of the caterpillar. Once you start to tap into the environment called Earth, you will understand the rhythm of the animals. And with this understanding of rhythm comes the knowledge of purpose. Play within the biorhythm of an ecosystem. Sense what it is like to be a tree leaf, and then to be the caterpillar feeding upon that leaf. See the pure dance of this vibration and then understand that the mystery is not complex.
Yes, it is the struggle of the human ego, that ping-pong ball self of the reader, and all the community the reader collides with in life, that necessitates a healing room, sacred space , or an office to read within…a place to refine the energy and allow the vibration to change from one of chaos into one of perfection. For true harmony does exist within nature. Even during a thunderstorm there is an orchestration of perfection. The flash of light, followed by the boom of noise, followed by the stillness behind a constant percussion of raindrops. Nature is harmony, as are you, as is each animal you read.
One purpose of your communication skills is to find harmony between the animal and the human “owner.” Nature wants harmony, the animal craves harmony, and yet the owner needs control. Allow a negotiation to proceed. Encourage the thunderstorm to lessen into a peaceful wave of oneness. For chaos is but an opportunity for reorganization. Change does not happen if there is no discomfort.
Experience, sample, experiment and choose the path for which is best suited for all parties involved. But remember, just because there is a solution it doesn’t mean the owner, nor the animal, will choose to walk the best path toward oneness. A tiger still wants to eat the deer lest live amongst it in an enclosure of peace. So does the horse need to frolic within the confines of a human forced restriction. Like a thunderstorm, the answer is not always a rhythm of harmony, sometimes the melody is loud, oftentimes the syncopation is flawed, but through the disorganization develops the oneness of a combined rhythm.
I used to believe everyone wants to find harmony because I crave peace and harmony. But I’ve learned over the years that some animal owners and caretakers crave the challenge of a being dominant over a stubborn dog, or the recognition of harboring a previously mistreated rescued animal, or even the fear of riding a jumper over six-foot fences. It was hard for me not to place my expectations upon a reading. Just as it was difficult not to try and resolve the conflict the sitter was complaining about. Yellow Dog speaks:
Animal communication is just that…relaying the animal’s thoughts, feelings and perspective of a situation. The reader is not a counselor, just as the reader is not a fixer. Rather, the reader is an interpreter of a situation for both the owner and the animal to reach a common understanding. The reader, in unison with his/her guides, provides the vibration, the rhythm, and through this rhythm a new tune may develop.
I realize that thinking through musical scores does seem odd. It is unfortunate that your media has befuddled the concept with movies such as Close Contact of the Third Kind and the sound R2-D2 makes in the Star Wars movies. It is not the musical score one hears with one’s ears, but the rhythm and frequencies that harmonize all. It is this synchronization that is important. There is no “language” of music to interpretate into English, but a vibration of intention and emotion. Just as there is no language of barking that a dog understands, but the vibration, the emotion, behind the quality of the bark that is the message.
Learn to feel the emotions, and then you will understand the perception.

I believe anyone can learn to access their inner mind; all it takes is patience and practice… lots of practice. If your desire is to open those abilities read my next blog entitled, A Path towards Stillness, an excerpt taken from Chapter 7 in The Pet Psychic.
